Fairfax County police have arrested a man suspected of conducting multiple burglaries while nude in the Centreville area, ending a string of unusual break-ins that had residents on edge.

The suspect was taken into custody after investigators released home surveillance footage two weeks ago showing a man wearing no clothing during one of the alleged burglaries. Police have not yet released the suspect’s name pending formal charges.

“We appreciate the community’s assistance in helping us identify this individual,” said Fairfax County Police spokesman in a statement. “The surveillance footage was instrumental in leading to this arrest.”

The burglaries occurred in residential neighborhoods in Centreville, located in western Fairfax County. Police have not disclosed the exact number of incidents or the total value of items stolen, but confirmed multiple homes were targeted in what they believe to be a connected series of crimes.

Residents in the affected Centreville neighborhoods had expressed concern about the unusual nature of the break-ins, with some installing additional security measures after learning about the incidents.

The arrest comes as Fairfax County continues to see property crime rates fluctuate across different regions. Centreville, situated along the Route 28 corridor, is home to approximately 75,000 residents and has generally maintained lower crime rates compared to more densely populated areas of the county.

Police are asking anyone who may have information about additional incidents or who believes their property may have been targeted to contact the Fairfax County Police Department. Investigators are working to determine if there may be connections to similar incidents in neighboring jurisdictions.

The case highlights the effectiveness of residential surveillance systems in helping law enforcement identify suspects. Fairfax County Police have increasingly relied on community-provided video evidence to solve property crimes across the county’s diverse neighborhoods.

Formal charges against the suspect are expected to be filed in the coming days. The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the full scope of the alleged crimes and whether additional charges may be warranted.

Fairfax County Police remind residents to report suspicious activity and to secure their homes with proper lighting and security systems when possible.
